The Etiquette of Twitter: Call To Forum

Inspired by the Wayne MacPhail and Curtis File talk on The Making of Maker Culture at PodCamp Toronto 2010 this past February, I have decided to open up the content of my upcoming talk at PodCamp London 2010 to the online community for both editing, feedback and input. And what better forum to do this in then my own blog.

The topic of my talk at PodCamp London 2010 will be The Etiquette of Twitter. Retweets vs Via

Now we all know the deal with RT (retweet) and via, but why is there two of them? Besides the just the obvious difference in their tweet structures, the two have evolved to have their own acceptable rules of use. A RT as the name implies is doing a simple repost of the same content while identifying the source. The via on the other hand is not an exact copy of the original tweet. This freedom of interpretation allows you to shorten, edit or even rewrite the original tweet to fit your needs.
